Bezel rocker VS. hammer setting — tip from @wildandroaming (formally NomadicPine)👇
“If you’re like me you probably started creating jewelry with fine bezel wire and manually using a bezel rocker to set your stones.
But last year I leveled up and learned a new technique.
Let me introduce you to my new best friend, hammer setting. This technique uses a hammer to do the hard work of pushing the metal over the stone which means you can use thicker bezel wire, secure your stones better and it’s quicker. Not to mention no more of that pesky wrist pain from manually pushing your bezel over stubborn bezels with the rocker.
Keep in mind you’re not hammering hard here it’s more of a gentle tapping method, a little goes a long way!”

✨-Start with practice pieces, not your favorite stone!
✨-Best for thicker bezel wire (0.5mm or more).
✨-Fragile stones like opals can crack, so skip them at first.
✨-Make sure your piece is securely held—you need both hands.
✨-Light taps only! You’re not smashing—just guiding the metal over gently.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s a total game-changer 💥

#hammersetting #jewelrytips #metalsmithsociety #jewelrytips #hammersetting #bezelsetting #jewelrytechniques #metalsmithsociety #jewelrymaking #jewelryeducation #handmadejewelry #benchjeweler #jewelersofinstagram #metalworking #goldsmith #silversmith #stone_setting #jewelrystudio #jewelryprocess #jewelrytutorial #craftsmanship #jewelrystudent
