On the podcast, @emilieshapirojewelry shared so many gems about production — and as promised, she also gave us some of her favorite storage + organization hacks for managing all the parts that go into creating multiples of a line of jewelry: chains, castings, findings, gemstones, materials… and also organizing the polishing bits and tools she has in bulk.
Find a storage container that has a ton of small drawers. Ones that you can pull out. Emilie pulls a drawer out when she needs the parts to make multiples of a particular piece of jewelry and then returns it when she's done with the job. I like that it’s wall mounted too! She also has an old steel storage cabinet that she holds smaller plastic containers in for stones, polishing wheels, wax parts, wires etc. that is something to look out for at a yard sale!
If you’re growing your jewelry biz, staying organized is half the battle — knowing how much you have of something, making your workflow more efficient.
