Using engine valves to flatten rings with

The hardest part is actually finding one used, since not every garage strips engines anymore. I’ve cut the stem of mine down to about 70 mm tall, which I find makes it much more stable than using it at full length. I use engine valves for flattening rings (like in the video), flattening sheet, and honestly any time I need to give something a good smack 😁 The smaller one doesn’t get used as often, but it’s perfect for tricky jobs — like when you’ve made a swinging locket with a flat back and after emerying it’s still not as flat as you hoped. I pop the small engine valve inside and give it a few gentle taps to bring everything back to where I expected it to be.” I have seen these used a few times over the years within our community!
