Here is a tutorial on how to stamp the inside of a ring from @meritmade - “This is my favorite method.
Tools:
Bent shank marking stamp ( @riogrande #11213001)
Brass mallet ( @riogrande #112137)
Brass stamping anvil ( @riogrande #1120852)
Tips:
•Make sure the hand holding the stamp is very anchored and stable. In the video, you can see I keep my wrist, pinky and ring fingers anchored to my bench top.
•Between mallet blows, move the stamp slightly forward, back, and side to side to ensure a complete stamp.
•Use the appropriate slot for the type of ring band you are working with. The correct slot supports the band and prevents it from warping and getting flat spots where you stamp. •Annealed/dead soft metal is easier to stamp.” Everyone probably already knows this, but I included it in my original post so I’m including it here ;) “Fun fact: “925” is the mark used to identify metal as sterling silver. Why 925? Because Sterling silver is an alloy of copper and fine silver. Fine silver makes up 92.5% fine silver.” 👏 I’m so grateful that you took the time to send this over to me! Marking work is something many people struggle with and I really like this technique, that block looks awesome! 🙏😘 #jewelrymaking #jewelrycommunity #sharinginformation #communityovercompetition #metalsmithsociety
