Here is a fantastic tool modification to help you with stonesetting from @lafemmebohemejewelry - “Cover the tips of your bezel rocker and bezel pusher with Jett Sett (now called "Jett Basic" on riogrande.com) to keep them from marking your bezel while you set. It's a game changer for me! I don't have to do ANY cleanup after setting. I use a blow drier to get the Jett sett soft enough to mold over the ends and then smooth out and let them harden. Don't let the ends touch any surface while hardening otherwise you'll mess up your shape. I also put Jett sett on top of a setting vise to hold earrings and pendants in place while setting. I use a blow drier to soften the Jett sett (it'll turn clear instead of while when it's soft), place my piece in the middle and use my fingers to push some of the Jett sett around the edges. Wait for it to dry and set the stone. When you're done, carefully heat the Jett sett to get your piece out. If I have a sensitive stone like turquoise, I'll place a wet paper towel on top of it while heating.” 🤯 tell us all about your Jett set adventures in the comments below 😄 #metalsmithsociety #stonesetting #bezelsetting #jewelrytipoftheday #jewelrytools
