For this #tooltalksaturday I wanted to talk about all the wonderful uses of a round ball bur! Including this hot tip from @catpawgems - “For top-heavy rings, I use a round bur on a flex shaft to carve away excess wax. I only do the top and not the shank. This takes off a lot of weight after casting in metal, plus you’ll be saving 💵 💵 since you’ll be paying for less metal (significant savings when casting in gold! 🤑 )” thank you for sharing this! I also use ball burs to prepare a flush setting (drill bit, ball bur then setting bur!) They can be used to carve metal and create indentations. A small one can be used to create a space for an earring post to be soldered into. Do you have other uses?!? Drop them in the comments! Do you have a brand you love? Tell us! Thank you @catpawgems for helping out with this #tooltimesaturday 😘 #jewelrytools #jewelrytalk #jewelrycommunity #ladysmith #metalsmith #instasmithy
