Here is awesome technique for creating rivets from @indigenized775 -"You can make a lot of rivets fast with a hand vise. I like using 18 gauge wire for this. First I take roughly 3/4 inch of straight wire and place it in the hand vise with about an 1/8 of an inch sticking up from the top. I then use flush cutters and snip that in half so there's about a 1/16 of an inch sticking up. I leave the extra and trim with the flush cutters to take off any uneven angles, you can skip this step if it’s already even. Use a flat file to take off angles by filing and turning the hand vise. You should be left with a circular top, make sure not to file all the way flush with the vise! Take the small end of the chasing hammer and begin tapping down on the top of the exposed wire. Switch to the fat face of the chasing hammer and hammer while turning the hand vise to completely flatten the top of the rivet." Thank you so much for sharing this technique! We still have a few more days left to the month if people want to post a riveted piece for the #metalsmithchallenge 🙌 can’t wait to see what you all make! #metalsmithsociety #rivet #howtorivet #jewelrymakingtechniques #jewelrymakingtipoftheday
