For this week’s #tooltalktuesday we are going to build off of last week and discuss the @grstools pin vise attachment for the Benchmate, thank you @nurdleintherough for sharing your videos and thoughts! 🙌 - “ The GRS pin vise attachment for the bench mate system has been a major game changer for me. I use it constantly and I find it is much more convenient than a ball vise because it’s at the right height and is so easy to turn in the hand. Pros: It’s amazingly easy to use, is at the right height, versatile, fits into Benchmate system. Cons: can leave bite marks in pieces like any pin vise (unless you pad the pins), tends to loosen a bit as you work (but you can tighten quickly!)I use a foredom hammer handle with my flex shaft to set my bezels. I have two wires under the setting to lift it up above the pins in the vise because the setting walls were low. Sometimes the pins obscure my ability to get at the bezel walls so that’s my work around.” I know many people had questions about the Benchmate vs. Ball Vise, at the end of the day I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference! I think this pin vise is an amazing option if you’ve already invested in a Benchmate for securing larger pieces in the same manner as the ball vise! I’ve never used this attachment and now I want one 😬 #metalsmithsociety #jewelrytools #grstools
