For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I wanted to give my honest review of the Gem Zoom U 10X Macro Cell Phone Lens Adapter (compatible with all Galaxy and Android smart phones and the following iPhones: X, 8, 8plus, 7, 7plus, 6, 6s, 6splus, 5, 5s,5SE and all Tablets and iPads ) How this works, you clip it directly onto your device to take incredible macro shots. It has LED lights which you can adjust to three different settings or turn off completely. If you are wanting to show off an extreme close-up this lens will produce results you can’t get with your phone alone. Considerations: you have to get very close to the item you are shooting, so say you have a larger piece, this might not get your entire piece in the shot. On my website I like to include detail shots and this is perfect for that, especially when showing off a gemstone or small decorative element. This kit also comes with a “Wide Angle Lens” (it screws on) which allows you to get a further away shot. For some people’s phones this may make a huge improvement or if you are wanting to use the light it will certainly help, for my iPhone X I didn’t find this lens to be that much different from some of the options available in my camera. For me I find having a macro lens that clips onto my phone a tool I constantly use not only to show off details of my work but also when I’m creating a close-up shot or video of my process to share on this page (I also use it to photograph flowers in my garden, just sayin) This kit is $99 so while its an investment its nothing compared to what a macro lens would cost you for a DSLR, admittedly it might not have all the functionality of a $600 DSLR lens but I think it does an amazing job. I created an IGTV video so you could all see how it works, definitely be sure to let me know if you have any questions! These lens kits are available from @ottofrei1930 and they are offering our community 5% of with code MMS719 I will link it my stories as well! Huge thank you to Otto Frei for giving me an opportunity to use this! Definitely want to discuss what others are doing as well! Let us know! #sponsored #metalsmithsociety #jewelryphotography
