One of the things my students often struggle with is holding little things while filing, sanding or drilling. Ofcourse there are specialist tools such as ring clamps and vices but sometimes they're too big or you just dont have one. A humble peg can grip things extremely well if you wrap an elastic band or hair bobble tightly around it.
The other great thing about pegs is because they are so cheap and easily accessible, you can use them without modification or you can cut or file into them to make the perfect holder for the thing you're trying to support, such as carving little recesses so it can hold round wires or granulation balls. Here I have cut the end of the peg off with my jewellers saw so as much of the metal is sticking out as possible.” Love seeing this in action!
