For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I’m showing off my @grstools MicroBlock XL (Part # 103.773 @ottofrei1930) I have had experience on all of the vises from GRS and I can confirm this is the perfect size between the GRS MicroBlock and the GRS Standard Block and in my opinion the best size for *most jewelers*. Because the MicroBlock XL has the same jaws as the MicroBlock, the XL version is compatibility with all of the MicroBlock attachments but gives you the extra space to secure larger pieces. The vise has an internal rotational brake system that lets you choose the amount of rotational resistance from totally loose and able to spin to locked. When I’m engraving I like to have it be able to rotate and it’s also nice when I’m setting a bezel! You can use Thermoloc or Jett Basic to hold pieces in the vise or there are all types of accessories. The attachment set (sold separately) includes leather-faced ring clamps which are really handy and a variety of pins and clamps. 30 pieces in all (Part # 103.520 at Otto Frei.)
