@cindyliebel - “I like to keep my workspaces organized to ease the flow of production while I create. After many attempts in organizing all of my precious metal wire, I finally figured out what has worked best for me. I picked up this file box at a retail store, which holds hanging file folders. I use pocket file folders instead of the hanging type to better contain my wire supply .Each pocket folder is labeled in order by wire gauge, some including the metal type. The added lid and use of pocket folders helps prevent metals from tarnishing while stored.Organizing my precious metal wire in this way makes it easier to find whatI need and allows me to transport an individual (or multiple) folder from one station or other.” To continue to celebrate our community’s diversity and also
#amplifymelanatedvoices I asked Cindy to share some of her work and what inspires her as a Black jeweler: “My love of creating started when I was young, traveling across the US with my military family. In my late teens, I captured our life through film using my dad’s Kodak 110 camera. Inspired by my grandfather’s love of photography, I moved forward into learning more about photography techniques and fine art during my years in college. Admittedly, I never pursued a career in the craft and I found myself advancing in technical school learning computer science with a career in business administration. In 2007, I learned basic metalsmithing techniques from a local jeweler and I scoured through books to learn more about the craft of creating jewelry. I started selling my jewelry to my friends and family and opened an Etsy shop in 2008 and later created my own website (cindyliebel.com). My inspiration thrives on architecture and midcentury design and influenced by the linear details of geometric shapes. It’s really hard to pick a favorite piece but currently, I’m in love with the Aurora Hoops (first jewelry pic). These hoops were designed with the intent to create a non-traditional round hoop. The delicate threader earrings reflect a continuous flow with ease and compliment any look you desire.” Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
