Here are some helpful tips when you are creating BIG BEZELS from @meritmade - “1) Up the gauge. Instead of using 28 ga fine silver I use 26. The larger gauge helps to keep the shape while soldering. More than once I’ve had a thinner bezel deform (imperceptibly) while soldering and then the stone wouldn’t fit in when I went to set it.
2) Turn up the heat. The larger the bezel the larger the backplate. That extra backplate requires a lot more heat. Make sure you can get the heat to the backplate by using a tripod or elevating system (wire birds nest, 2 third hands, etc).” 🙌 Thank you sooo much! This tip came in response to someone reaching out for advice and me sharing a story! I’m so grateful for all of you in this community that are so generous with your knowledge! I’m also grateful to those of you that ask questions, if you asked it, 100 other people wondered it ☺️ Now let’s go make some humongous bezels! #bezelmaking #stonesetting #makingjewelry #solderingjewelry
