Watch in IGTV for closed captions! For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I shot a quick demo video using an Artifex Wheel from @ottofrei1930 while they come in both 4” and 6” I use a FOREDOM Benchtop Lathe and the 4” is the appropriate size for my machine. They also come in three different grits: Coarse (80 grit), Medium (150 grit) and Fine (250 grit) This demo is with the fine wheel! What I like about this silicon carbide wheel is that it works to quickly remove burs, smooth solder joints or in this demo smooth out the edge of a bezel and baseplate. You can use the wheel on gold, silver, copper, platinum, steel and aluminum. As I mentioned in the video this could be a helpful wheel for modifying and polishing your steel tools. If you decide to do that make sure you don’t cross-contaminate by then using that same wheel on precious metals. If you head over to Otto Frei’s website this wheel is Part # 110.261 and as always Otto Frei offers our community 5% off their order (AND each purchase supports Metalsmith Society) with code MMSOF also this is my first time using captions so thanks for bearing with me, let me know if they were helpful.
