Here is another technique for oxidizing your work but preventing your bezel from getting patina in it from @ascendant.jewelry - “ oxidize much of my work by dunking it in liver of sulfur. I also bezel set a lot of stones that are transparent with inclusions such as tourmalated quartz. Many of my bezels have a solid back plate, and I don't want the inside of the bezel to be oxidized as the stones look better with a bright silver backplate. It's a pain to have to re-polish the inside of a bezel setting if it becomes oxidized during the patina process, so I coat it with nail polish to protect it from the patina solution. Simply apply a generous coat or two to the inside of the bezel, let dry, and dunk away! I've found that clear topcoat works the best for this as it pulls out very easily. (I like Essie's top coat for both this purpose and my manicure😉). Occasionally, a little patina will get onto the top of the interior bezel wall, but that is so much easier to polish up rather than having to deal with cleaning liver of sulfur out of the entire inside.” Thanks for sharing this Melissa! For all of us that love to patina our work 😍 #patina #liverofsulfur #bezels #finishingjewelry
