Here is a tip to prevent your paste flux from drying out from @ezukowskie - “I’m a sporadic solderer, and use mostly paste flux. Approaching the torch after a few months I discovered the usefulness of this idea. I keep a bit of paste flux in a small container, inside of a larger, lidded glass jar with a 1/2 inch or so of water. The water had
evaporated when I was ready to solder again, but the flux was as creamy and easy to apply as when I’d first cracked the seal.” I love this idea! It’s smart to move some flux into a smaller container because I’ve found with the large jar the lid inevitably gets caked with flux making it difficult to close, then I don’t close it completely one afternoon and the next time I go to solder it’s all dried up!
