Here is a setting tip from @shira_hanna_designs - “When I don’t want to chance distorting the shape of a more delicate piece while setting a stone, I sometimes choose to set the stone right on the mandrel I used for forming rather than using a vice. It provides very sturdy support and keeps my shape intact. I place a thin layer of paper or cardboard between my piece and the steel to prevent any marring of the surface and then apply masking tape over the entire thing, leaving only the bezel cup exposed! I also use two wood blocks to create my own vice of sorts. It holds the mandrel securely while I’m working and prevents it from rolling.” Using the curve of various mandrels to support work while setting and stamping is an awesome move. Thank you for sharing this with us, I’m sure it will help it others! #stonesettingtip #bezeltips #settingcabochons #jewelrymakingtip
