#societychat Today is Episode 8 of SOCIETY CHAT. This biweekly video series features my 15 minute (or in this case 40 minute :) interviews with inspiring jewelers and teachers. Really excited to share my conversation with Lorraine West of @lorrainewestjewelry what can I say, I could have talked to Lorraine for two hours more! Here is her tip/tool - "My favorite tool is the old fashioned jewelers saw frame and blades.
I usually use saw blades 2/0 - 3/0 to cut most of the sheet metal rings, cuffs and or nameplates out of either
gold, sterling silver or brass sheet. Cutting out sheet metal was one of the first techniques I mastered at the bench.
A quick tip is to place tape around the top of the saw. By doing so it will protect the sheet metal from gashing into the metal if your blade breaks and lose your momentum while cutting." Thank you so much for sharing with us Lorraine, if you haven’t already go listen to our chat. Please also comment below and let me know who you would like to see interviewed for this series! #jeweler #jewelerinterview #lorrainewestjewelry
