Protect your stones while texturing and polishing! Today’s tip is brought to you by our sponsor @turquoise_moose they are my trusted source for gorgeous turquoise, their stones come from over 20 mines and they have freeform and calibrated options. For this tip we are actually covering our gorgeous stone with painter’s tape to protect it while polishing. Shoutouts to @fione_harvey an incredibly talented jeweler I went to college with who shared this as one of our first tips on the page. Simply cover your stone, I like 3m blue tape personally and this will protect against an accident in the final stages of finishing. One idea for your bezels is to use a diamond cylinder bur to create a texture on the bezel. This is also a great way to hide hammer marks, just sayin. I also feel confident taking my piece to the polishing machine when my stone is covered. Depending on the stone and compound, polishing can potentially dull or damage the surface of a stone so taking this extra precaution can save you from that. As supporters of the page @turquoise_moose helps me continue to create educational content so a big thank you to them.
