Here is an alternative pickling tip from @littleoscilla. “If you want an affordable pickle solution that will dissolve your firescale and clean your dirty metal, look no further than the pool aisle in your local hardware store! 🏊 I like to use pH Down in my little crock pot to make a pickle solution in my home studio. I read this tip on a jewelry forum online, tried it out, and haven’t looked back since! Best part, pH down is also great for soil that is too alkaline, use a scoop of your extra pH down to help neutralize your plants! 🌱” Thank you Emily! *DISPOSAL *I always like to note that once copper is present in the pickle it should not be poured down the drain. I like to neutralize mine with a little baking soda and store in a labeled bucket. You can keep outside with the lid off a little to let it evaporate and once full take to your local hazardous waste! If you have anything to add about that please feel free to comment, many jewelers are nervous to share or talk about these things in fear of doing or saying the wrong thing. There may be a better technique I don’t know about but I love that we can talk about it kindly! :) #pickle #naturalpickle #jewelerspickle #ph
