Here is a stamping tip from @mineralandmine - “Here are some tips for stamping evenly, straight, and centered! My process, in order: 1: mark the center on the item you're stamping - in this case, a cuff blank. 2: draft out your words (or pattern) and find the center of your characters, including spaces. 3. Tape your piece down, and place another piece of tape as a guide line. 4: Start stamping from the center, moving to the right. The horizontal line of tape marks a level spot to drag all your stamps to, so they're at the same height. 5: Once you finish stamping all the characters on the right side, replace your metal so that the left side is taped down and available for stamping. 6: Stamp from the center out to the left. This is where that written draft comes in super handy, because let's face it - spelling in reverse is hard. VOILA! Now just to patina, shape and polish :) A couple extra general stamping tips: Go slow! Place the stamp and double check its alignment before making your mark. Hammer once, but don't slam your hammer too hard - it will warp your piece. To deepen the mark, 'lock' your stamp back into the footprint from the first strike, and hammer again. If your piece starts to warp in any way, STOP, untape the metal, and flatten/reshape using a nylon hammer before continuing.” I love this so much, thank you for taking the time to document Kate!
