For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I wanted to talk about annealing pans filled with pumice! Some of you may have seen these before and asked yourselves what they are all about and whether you should get one. Real quick, thank you to @gesswein.jewelry for providing me with this 7” one (item # 830-3995) this is the perfect size for my small soldering station. The purpose of these pans which have been around forever is to provide an area for annealing, the pumice is heat reflective which helps you quickly and evenly anneal your metal. The pan spins around allowing you to rotate your work as you heat. You can also use the pumice to support your work for soldering you just want to make sure things don’t move around at an inopportune time. A nice feature of this pan is the clip on cross-locking tweezer which acts as a third hand. Who uses an annealing pan? Please share your experiences in the comments below! You can purchase this compact pan from Gesswein and use code MSS5 to save 5% on it but also help support the page. I am all for an annealing pan, it will also reduce the breakdown of your charcoal blocks and other surfaces when you are repeatedly heating them for annealing. #annealing #annealingpan #solderingsurfaces #solderingstation #gesswein
