For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I am showing off my new ultrasonic, solution and basket all available at @gesswein.jewelry but first let’s back it up… What is an ultrasonic and is it a necessary item? An ultrasonic cleans jewelry using ultrasound waves and cleaning solution. It removes oil, dirt, dust and polishing compound. It can also clean a clogged torch tip. If you are polishing your work regularly with polishing compounds I am going to say to os an essential tool. It will save you SO much time cleaning in-between different polishing compounds, and help you maintain a high, uniform polish. Next question is how nice of an ultrasonic does one need? I am showing off the 2QT Elma ultrasonic (item 851-1061) for the record this is the nicest ultrasonic I’ve ever owned. It has a strong and quiet pulse that works quickly to remove caked on polishing compound. It has variability in the heat settings which is very nice because different solutions have different recommended heat settings. This is perhaps not the first ultrasonic someone should buy starting out, however if you are like me and have owned economy ones that work okay, and eventually breakdown and you’re ready to upgrade…I highly recommend. Now regardless of what kind of ultrasonic you currently have, you are going to want to purchase the UltraBasket™ ( item 851-5127) from Gesswein because it is absolutely amazing! I find the typical steel baskets inside an ultrasonic can scratch my work when the waves vibrate my work against them. The UltraBasket™ has a fine plastic mesh that won’t scratch your work and allows you to easily remove small parts, it also has hooks to hang rings and other components all the way around. The diameter of this basket measures 4.5” and it fits nicely in this 2QT ultrasonic. For cleaning solution The SUPRA® Ultrasonic Solution (item 851-5388) is biodegradable, environmentally safe and effective with hard water. Hopefully this info is helpful and a huge thank you to Gesswein, purchases made with our code MSS5 not only save you 5% but Gesswein gives a little back to help me run the page. So thank you for your support! #gessweinjewelry #ultrasonic
