Hopefully everyone knows to be conscientious about keeping track of all the saw dust, filings, grindings, etc. from your bench - even the polishing dust and floor sweepings from the studio. What about the fine gold dust on your fingers? Even if you have a trap in the drain line of the sink where you wash your hands (which you should) to catch the precious metal powder on your fingers, here is a quick and simple way to “pre-wash “ your hands and keep track of that metal. Use something to loosen the powder off your fingers before washing your hands. Here I’m wiping the oil/gold powder off my hands with a paper towel which then goes into the bin to send to the refining company. This 20-30 second routine before washing your hands will return huge dividends! 💰💵” FRIENDS this is a good one, especially if you are working in gold and silver, think about cleaning your hands and saving that dust to go in your refining bucket.
