Here are some instructions on refilling a Butane Torch from @arcanasilver - “I've been using butane torches in my home studio for years. It's a great affordable way to get started soldering. I started with the Proxxon Microflame Torch from Rio. It's a great torch for soldering little things like jump rings and small rings and has lasted me for years, but if you want to do anything bigger you'll need a little more flame. I added a second larger torch that I got from a local smoke shop for like $20. The combination of both torches is perfect! I'll use the bigger torch for things like pendants or bracelets, and sometimes even use both at the same time, heating the piece with the big torch and going in with the little one at the solder joint for focused heat.
To fill, GO OUTSIDE and simply bleed until empty, tip upside down and remove the base. Take a can of butane (any butane lighter refill canister will do- available at your smoke shop or hardware store or online) and press the nozzle into the refill valve. If it drips liquid right away it's not working. You can adjust the little ring around the refill valve with a flathead screwdriver to open/close it. Once refilling, the torch will get really cold. Fill until the whole torch gets cold or until it starts dripping liquid. Wait until the torch reaches room temperature to use. And that's it! The only downside is you will have to refill every few days if soldering often. Happy soldering!” Thank you so much for sharing this Jenna I know many members of our community use a Butane torch and I’d love to share more tips about using them and also featuring them :) they are a super affordable option.
