Here is a soldering tip from @pigeonheartdesigns - “Both these photos are to show ways I heat a piece from above & below without having to use a heat sinking source. If you need clarification please ask! Using a piece of steel I cut from a coil I make these fold over U shapes to prop jewelry on that needs to get heated from beneath. This enables me to get heat evenly above & beneath the piece while keeping the piece stable & in place, without a bit heat sink. It’s really helpful for attaching odd shaped pieces. Likewise- I break up a honeycomb soldering block & am then able to get heat below.
Another nice option is to use the pumice pieces from your annealing pan to elevate your pieces. Hope this helps!
