Here is a tip for “seasoning” your solder pick from @myth_and_stone - “ I learned this tip at the New Approach Jewelry School.....dip the tip of your titanium solder pick in a 50/50 mixture of boric acid and denatured alcohol and touch it to your torch flame. The flame will be green for a second and your pick now has a glassy coating that keeps solder from sticking. To pick up the solder chip I rest the pick behind the solder and let the flame ball it up and catch it when it rolls. Then I use the flame to help me set it into a fluxed and heated metal surface which is tacky and ready to grab my solder.” Thank you Meryl! I added the bit about paste flux as it works as well! If you have a solder pick that solder is sticking to give this a go!This 50/50 mixture is fabulous for firescale/firestain prevention but use extreme caution as it’s flammable 😎 thanks again Meryl!
