Here is a #diy tool tip from @lucywalkerjewellery In this video I’m making an invaluable tool for flush setting, and also something that I also use to add a “bright cut” look to the inside of bezels – a parallel sided burnisher. I find these are great for flush setting larger stones, but you might find them easier to use than a needle burnisher for smaller stones too. Just like with needle burnishers though, you’ll want to make them in different sizes for different sized stones. And I also strongly recommend making a set in stainless steel (to use with softer stones) as well as using tool steel which I’m using here. - To start with you’ll need an old broken bur (or any other tools steel). I’ll then shape this to create parallel sides using Ikhoe pin hole disks in a medium grit (available from @gesswein.jewelry 845-2780). And then I’ll round out the top of the burnisher using sandpaper rolls (240, 600 and 1000 grit), before bringing the sides and the tip of the burnisher to a high shine using rubber wheels (I use item 3327951 from @riogrande ).
Happy stone setting!“ This is brilliant! If you haven’t yet checked out Lucy’s online classes head over to the link in my profile. I am an affiliate for her because I’ve taken her classes and they are truly amazing for both beginners and intermediate jewelers. Love em!
