Today’s tip is about green pickle. What does it mean?!? When you pickle sterling silver, copper or brass (which all contain copper) small particles of the copper are leached from your metal and deposited in the pickle. After using it for a bit your pickle will start turning blue/green. Always important to note that this is why I don’t pour neutralized pickle down the drain, because the copper isn’t ideal to put into our water. However the solution is easy, pour neutralized pickle in a bucket, let it evaporate a bit and ultimately bring to your local hazardous waste.
