Here is a tip for carving stones from @c.albritton.jewelry - “While I do have a lot of equipment to do my inlay jewelry, I enjoy making my own tools or figuring out alternative ways of doing something because it’s fun to get a bit inventive and do some creative problem solving!
Here I’m using a flex shaft, an adjustable vise https://amzn.to/41sHqVy , a bowl of water, and some carving bits (these are Nova bullet points). You’ll want to make a protective cover for your flex shaft, like a plastic bag or something similar, to keep water off your hand piece, but I find that I don’t get too much water spray using a medium speed on the foot petal.
So for those interested in dabbling with some lapidary but don’t have a whole lot of room or can’t buy all the equipment, you can get creative to make it happen. Sure, it’s slower than using a Cab King, but it’s better to be able to start somewhere 🙂”
Thank you caitlin for allowing me to share, it is so helpful to see your set up!!we appreciate you and your time! Caitlin has also shared her affiliate link for the vise: https://amzn.to/41sHqVy if you are interested in that!

#lapidarytips #carvingstonesforjewelry #jewelrymakingtip
