(@diycastings) use a tart tamper to compress the initial layer of sand inside a flask, I decided to embrace the pastry tools meme completely. I purchased a bench scraper and a dough blender. Both work very nicely for cutting the sand into a finer mix and the bench scraper helps to clear and clean my workspace.
