The best advice is always prevention. One technique to not make a mess of your earring backs is to drill a little hole and solder the post into it. If you do have a bit of a mess (like me 💁♀️) flip a Moore’s Sanding with the abrasive facing down and clean the back. I follow with a little sanding and like to keep it more of a satin finish back there. Hope this is helpful!
