@thewildpine - “To create the perfect ball without imperfections & pitting on either side of a hinge, I highly recommend using Fine Silver or Argentium Silver. Either type balls up cleanly and perfectly without the warping or pits sterling silver can create. I use my Smith Little Torch with a #4 tip (Oxygen/Propane) to make a very tiny, hot, concentrated flame and quickly draw the heat upwards- and voilà! Perfect ball for a perfect hinge.
