About Metalsmith Society

Corkie Bolton created Metalsmith Society because she wished for a place where you could connect with other jewelers — ask questions, share what you're learning, and support one another without judgment.

Corkie has made jewelry since high school and graduated from Pratt Institute in 2007 with a degree in Jewelry Design. She launched her fine jewelry line, Corkie Bolton Jewelry, in 2016. As she puts it, jewelry making can be technical, intimidating, and expensive — but it doesn't have to be lonely.

Community, Education, and Kindness

Metalsmith Society is built on three pillars: community, education, and kindness. The goal is to make jewelry education approachable and inclusive — encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and lifelong learning. We share practical tips and studio techniques, support small businesses and independent creators, and strive to create a respectful, welcoming space for all skill levels.

One of the things Corkie values most about Metalsmith Society is how much knowledge lives within the community itself. Jewelers from around the world share their own tips, techniques, and discoveries every day.

Beyond Social Media

In 2022, Corkie published Metalsmith Society's Guide to Jewelry Making, reflecting years of shared tips, community questions, and everything she wished she had known when starting out.

This tip search app lets you browse and search thousands of jewelry making tips originally shared on the @metalsmithsociety Instagram account. Whether you're looking for advice on a specific technique or just browsing for inspiration, we hope you find exactly what you need.
