@norosesjewelry - “When I have to re-size a ring and want to protect stones, I use an old metal dapping block filled with heat shielding gel (like Kool Jool) and a layer of water on top. I immerse the stone in the gel, smooth the gel over the stone using a plastic knife and pour a small amount of water on the surface. The curve of the dapping block indents hold the ring evenly and I don't over-use too much of the cooling medium. The different size indentations accommodate many types of rings. The surface water helps me keep an eye on the temperature. After the repair is finished, the piece can cool to room temp in the gel before getting a rinse to clean.” Thank you SO much for sharing this! 🙌
