Here is an awesome jig used for drilling from @lindseysnellmetal -
“Fixtures and Jigs are KEY to not losing your mind when you are in deep production mode! Trade secrets are overrated and tbh sharing how it happens behind the scenes is a huge passion of mine. The heavy gauge brass plate is cut so that two perfect squares of metal can sandwich into the cutout. First the silver blank piece goes in, then I put a steel plate (marked with a black dot) on top. It has large drilled holes just where I want them and it guides the drill bit perfectly in the same place every time. I save time not needing to center punch and I just pop the finished silver piece out and move on to the next one.
I don’t know where I’d be without my mentors and fellow smiths sharing their tricks and tips. Special thanks to bf @matt.peller for fabrication support 🙌🏻” 😭 Many nights I spend time searching for tips to share, and I came across this one by searching: #metalsmithsocietyshare and I was STOKED. This is such a phenomenal tip but also a caption that really speaks to the spirit of this community. Thank you so much for sharing Lindsey! 🙏😘 If you have a jig your willing to share send me pictures! I’d love to see it! #metalsmithsociety #jewelrymaking
