Here is a tip for those that want to experiment with tumbling a piece with a stone set from @kjs_heart -ā I tumbled this pendant and after tumbling I set the stone. Although I used some tape on my tools to protect the bezel it got a bit damaged by hammer setting the stone. Tried to remove the damage but did not like it and realy wanted to tumble it a bit more. To do so I used double sided tape, the very sticky one you use for carpet tiles, to protect the stone while tumbling. It worked out great! It stayed out while tumbling!ā Whenever it comes to throwing stones in the tumbler you are risking damage to the stone and most stones (besides diamond and sapphires and other harder stones) are not advised. I would still proceed with caution using this tip but in those instances that Iām willing to perhaps risk it to achieve the finish I want I would definitely experiment with this technique! Thank you so much for sharing with us! If anyone was has tips on getting a uniform finish after setting a stone (when perhaps a slight scratch has accidentally occurred) send it over to me! It would help so many! š #jewelrymakingtips #jewelrytumblingtips #metalsmithsocietytips
