SOUND ON! 😄 For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I’m discussing sandbags! A sandbag can serve a few purposes! In this example I place my steel block on it while stamping, not only does it help to deaden the blow and sound as I hammer but it also helped me get a deeper impression! If you are working out of your home or have neighbors to consider, a sandbag can be an inexpensive way to reduce the noise! You can also hammer your metal directly on top of a sandbag ( and I apologize I don’t have a video of this technique ) but let’s say for example you wanted to create a concave shape in a piece of metal, you could start hammering into it on the sandbag with a rounded hammer and because of the give of the sandbag it would take on the shape of the hammer. If anyone uses this technique, share a video with me and we can share with our community! Would also just love to hear from others that use a sand bag!
