THIS THROWBACK TIP is one that I have sent to more people in DMs than any other, when they ask me “how to seal brass or patina or prevent tarnish?” This was shared originally on May 9th, 2018 - “How do you seal a patina and keep bronze, brass and copper from tarnishing? While there is no magic solution, @ritualremains generously shared some of their methods (swipe to see their notes on each) 🙏🏻 ‘This is a small series of what we use to seal patinas. No sealant is permanent and you have to consider the wear of the piece. Rings and bracelets will get a lot more surface wear than earrings and pendants. Be careful as some sealants will chip or flake or do weird things. The best advice we can give is to experiment with what works best with your pieces and make tests, wear them or run them through a tumbler and see how they hold up!’ Be sure to swipe to the last photo which shows their incredible work 🍄 😍🤯” Tag a friend you think could use this tip! There are tons of us out there that may want to try one of these sealing methods! Really awesome revisiting some of these tips from the early days and I’m so incredibly grateful for all the knowledge this community has shared ❤️#metalsmithsocietypatinatips #patina #jewelrytipoftheday #bronzejewelry #copperjewelry #brassjewelry #jewelrycommunity #communityovercompetition #jewelrygang
