For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I wanted to talk about my anvil! Some people who follow me over at @corkieboltonjewelry have asked about it so I thought I’d share it here! I got it at @riogrande it’s their Large Cast-Iron Bench Anvil (Item # : 113812) Anvils are fantastic for doing all types of forming and hammering on! The top is perfectly flat and is a nice large area to work on! The horn on this anvil is pretty wide so I’d don’t typically place rings on it. I often use the curve to get a bend started in rings, bracelets etc. On the top is a “hardy hole” (the larger squarish one) traditional used in blacksmithing for holding stakes and the smaller hole is called a “pritchel” used for punching a hole through hot iron. I don’t use either of these 😁 and thanks to @emilymarquisdesigns for explaining what they are 😂 Tool talks are my favorite because I learn, and hear from all of you! Who has an anvil? Where did you get it? What do you use yours for? Tell us in the comments!! ⚒ #jewelrymakingcommunity #jewelersanvil #jewelerstools thanks to @made_x_mason for the first pic 💕
