For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I thought it would be fun to show a little tutorial on making your own line stamp out of a $7 chisel from a hardware store (I also put it all together in an IGTV if you want to check that out as well.) I used the EZE-Lap diamond cards to quickly shape the chisel but you can also use sandpaper (be sure not to cross-contaminate with your work! :) The Ceragloss wheel is an awesome way to apply a high polish onto the tool once I have a shape I like. It’s really that easy, these tools are AMAZING to add to your tool box because you can use them to shape stamps, use them to modify broken burs into flush setting tools. The diamond cards can help you reshape silicone or rubber bits for your flex shaft. Just a super handy set to have! The Ceragloss wheel is very useful because whatever surface your tools have, it’s going to impart that surface onto your work, so a nice highly shined line stamp will give you a nice shiny stamp impression. This wheel can also be useful if your steel burnishers need little love or reshaping. Let me know if you have any questions! Tons of our favorite tool companies sell the Ceragloss wheels! I listed all the items under “Bench Tools” on the Amazon Storefront (link in my profile) if you’re reading this in the future and you can go to your local hardware, see if they have chisels there. Hope everyone is staying safe and sane. #jewelrytoolmaking #linestamp #jewelrytool #diyjewelrytool
