The stamp is applied to fine silver clay. The silver clay is fired in a kiln. The binder in the clay is burned off and the piece shrinks up to 20%. This shrinkage is taken into account when the piece is designed. The piece is then burnished to align the silver particles, tumbled, patinaed, polished and the gemstone is set.
