Here are some amazing #diy tools from @robinbaskindesigns - “I got used golf balls from a friend who is a caddy…evidently tons of them get thrown out after a few rounds so I asked him to save a few for me meaning they are recycled and free.
I used a regular drill to make a hole, taping where I wanted the drill to stop (they are easy to drill just hold over a trash can to catch the stuff that falls out). Just make sure the hole is a bit smaller than whatever you are going to use for the tool so that it doesn’t slip out or require any glue etc.
I took brass wire (I find that 10, 12, 8 gauge work well depending on what you want to use it for) and a broken bur (you can use drill bits if thick enough, beading tools, crochet hooks etc) and then followed @lucywalkerjewellery demo on shaping and sharpening. The length will depend on your hand and how you want the tool to fit once it’s put together.
Once the metal is shaped and ready to use just push it into the hole with a pair of heavy duty pliers.” YES. Love this so much. Thank you so much for taking the time to send! Anyone else use golf balls?!? Let us know in the comments!! #jewelrymakingtools #diyjewelrytools #metalsmithsocietyshare #jewelrymakingtips
