#affiliate For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I wanted to show off wheels you can use to remove the hammered texture from your bezels available from @ottofrei1930 the Italian Silicone Polishing Kit (Item #110.619 ) This kit contains a sampling of Italian Silicone wheels that are an awesome choice for removing hammer marks from your bezels. I am still cautious to not touch the wheel against softer stones (you can cover your stone with painter’s tape) but they are generally safe if you accidentally touch harder stones. They are great for shaping prongs and you can also use them to shape and polish your pieces in general. This awesome kit includes samples of a bunch of Italian wheels in different grits and shapes. You can also modify the shape of the wheels if you need a more narrow wheel or a knife edge with a Truing stone (Item # 110.408) When using these wheels you will want to use light pressure and low speeds. The wheel I’m using in the video initially is the Italian grey pre-polish wheels which leave a smooth burnished surface ready for a high polish. I then used green and pink. To achieve the super shine in the example with the Lapis. These wheels work on gold and silver as well as non precious metals like copper, brass and nickel. You can buy a bunch of these wheels individually but the kit is really awesome for trying all the different grits and shapes.
