Here is a wax working tip from @littleoscilla - “✿ How I finish my waxes for casting ✿
After you remove your build-lines and fill your bubbles, I recommend using nylon stockings/tights to achieve a nice finish on your waxes. When you use the nylons, they act as an ultra-fine grit sandpaper, it really helps smooth everything out to get the wax ready for casting. – For this method, I like snipping the feets off my old tights and using them like a little sock puppet. However, you can just use it like a regular cloth too. – I’ve loved casting since I was in undergrad, which is where I learned this technique. I also used this same method when I worked as a bench jeweler in Philadelphia, so it’s probably common practice, but I figured I’d share it anyway. This tip works for finishing carving wax too, not just injection wax.💗” I’ve never tried this and I’m SUPER EXCITED. Thank you for taking the time to email me this tip Emily!
