Here is a tip we shared a year ago from @makeitwithkim - โDo you want to make your bezels fancy? While you can buy pre-made fancy bezel strip, in many countries it's not that easy to get hold of. But you can make your own!
Most bezel strip is made from fine silver 0.3mm / 28 gauge thick which is super soft and easy to cut. So children's craft scissors, designed for cutting fancy edges in paper are also able to cut fancy bezels.
I bought the cheapest of the cheap craft scissors on ebay. 6 designs for ยฃ2.70 inc. free postage! So I wasn't expecting them to be robust, but they easily cut through my bezel.
It helps to draw a guide line on your metal, then open the scissors fully, start to cut and when the scissors start to struggle, open them wide again, push your metal further into the jaws and cut again. โ๏ธ
Just don't do what I did and flip your scissors upside down between cuts or your pattern will also reverse ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐
If you are working with tall stones, you can cut sheet metal too as long as it's 0.3mm thick or thinner. Textile pinking shears may be able to cut thicker material. If you are working with anything other than fine silver, you may need to anneal your metal first.
But it's a fun, cheap and fairly easy way to jazz up your stone setting.โ ๐๐ Brilliant! Thanks for letting me share! Four years in and I never repeat tips but sometimes we need reminders of amazing tips/I am spending extra time with my family this week ๐#bezels #makingbezels #decorativebezel
