Yes you can enamel on soldered pieces! #sponsored by @pmcsupplies who provided the fabulous Tabletop Kiln. You can enamel on soldered pieces if you use hard solder! The melting temperature of hard solder is 1475 degrees Fahrenheit this is a higher temperature than the temperature required for my enamel to fuse. I’m fusing at 1450 degrees. If I used medium solder which melts at 1390 my piece would apart. I am not enameling over a solder seam so I used regular solder if you plan to enamel over a solder seam you must use “eutectic solder which is an alloy of pure silver and copper and contains no zinc. Zinc can cause the enamel to pit or discolor. It opens a world of possibility when you can take your finished jewelry pieces and enamel on them! Other notes about this video I used #depletiongilding because those fabulous X castings are sterling silver and I wanted to raise the fine silver to the surface prior to enameling. Shoutouts to @haroldstudio for those castings! This is only my third time enameling this decade and it’s been super fun to learn along with you all!
