This month’s Patreon Q & A is about laying out a studio. It’s going to take multiple videos to cover this topic. In this first one I am simply identifying the main areas of a jeweler’s studio:
Workbench: This is where the actual jewelry making takes place. A workbench typically includes a surface for cutting, drilling, and soldering, as well as storage for tools and supplies.
Storage: Jewelry making often involves a large number of small components, so proper storage is important. A jewelry studio may have shelves, drawers, and cabinets for organizing beads, findings, wire, and other supplies.
Cleaning Area: A cleaning area is where jewelry is cleaned and polished after it has been made. This may include a sink, cleaning solution, and polishing cloths.
Soldering Station: A soldering station is where the jewelry artist joins metal components together using heat and solder. This area may include a soldering iron, flux, and soldering wire.
Photography Area: A photography area is where jewelry can be photographed for display on websites, in portfolios, or in promotional materials. This area may include a camera, tripod, and lighting equipment.
I am going to do my best to address tips for folks with only a single workbench or a small space! But any questions and comments you have now will help me when I cover each area! Thank you for being a Patreon (and/or subscriber) your support means so much to me!
