I love a thick bezel, here are some tips to create corners for your gorgeous square or rectangular stones. Sponsored by @turquoise_moose where I get my rectangular, square and bar shaped turquoise.
- Once you have scribed a line where your corner will be you gently saw the line first to create a groove and then use a rectangular needle or hand file to create a wide “v”. This removes metal so the corners can bend into a perfect 90 degrees. You can also use a seperating disc carefully to grind out that groove.
- If your corner is almost there but you still need to remove a little more metal CAREFULLY saw into the corner. You don’t want to saw all the way through just enough so you can complete the bend.
- A measuring square is a fantastic tool to have to compare your metal to and make sure you are at 90 degrees.
- Once you have figured out your position scribe lines or use a sharpie so when you set up the bezel for soldering you know where to position everything.
- Always flow a little solder into the corners you bent, this will strengthen them.
Next I will show setting this thick bezel! I would love for you to give this a try! Our sponsor Turquoise Moose is offering our community an exclusive 15% off (does not include rough collection, destash collection, or July IG items)
