However, this operation cannot always be performed, as if the engraving with the stone’s serial number falls beneath one of them, it is necessary to secure the stone in order to read the engraving. After closing the claws, I mark with a compass the amount of metal I need to remove, cutting down to the height of the star facets of the table. In this case, I use a carbon disc for cutting, but this operation can also be carried out with a saw. I begin to refine the tips with a rubber tool, a half-round file, or a piece of sandpaper.
